Float Runner Setup
Float Runner Setup
This setup attempts to find stocks that have an increased supply/demand relationship that signals a higher probability for a sharper increase in a stock's share price over a shorter period of time. Can be used in conjunction with the Standard or Pincher Setup, but also introduces a new setup that attempts to take advantage of a significant Short Ratio against a fundamental counter-propellant.
The short scan looks for 3 technical characteristics: positive momentum (Aroon Oscillator), positive trending (ADX DMI crossover) and volume increase at 1 1/2 times the 20 day moving average.
In addition it then looks for Short Ratio's above 3. The result is then run though a float analysis check that provides:
Turnover Ratio (the % of the float being traded as the average of 8 days)
Working Float (the number of shares needed to support an 8 day average volume)
Effective Float (the number of shares needed to support a 21 day average volume [typical trading month])
% of Float Short
Short Ratio (average sessions required to cover current short position as it relates to the float)
The numbers are then interpreted:
Turnover Ratio > 1 favorable & > 3 desirable
WF > daily volume favorable
EF > 10% favorable & > 30% desirable
Short Ratio > 3 favorable
